get deals, get savings

I was looking to save some money for my upcoming Australia trip. And the first thought that came to mind was the daily deal sites! For those who online shop to save, you should know about your local deal sites. You are probably even a frequent buyer of these sites.  So… why save only locally? ;)

Tips to save money for your travel

Tip 1: Join deal sites of your travel destination.

Google for ‘deal sites of country/city‘. Join ’em and get some savings on day tours, dining or accommodation. But if you are worried of getting fraud deals from small sites, go for sites like Groupon which has a worldwide presence, or those that have a sister company in your area.

Tip 2: Get referral $ credits.

When you first spot a good deal, don’t buy yet! Refer your travel companion to buy it. In this way, you can get some referral credits for another deal you all want to grab. Share the deal and share the discount upon discount. ;)

Tip 3: Browse websites with coupons & freebies.

While looking for deal sites, you might come across websites with coupons to download or with information on where to go for great sales/discounts/promotions. Be sure to look out for them!

Note: Keep in mind that these deals paid upfront is a sunk cost. So if you foresee changes to your travel plan/schedule, or if at the last minute you have to change your schedule, you might have to forfeit this deal, and thus incurring more cost.

Deal Sites in Australia , Singapore & Asia

Since I am going to Australia when I am typing out this post, here are some Oz deal sites I found:

Singapore & Asia

And since I am from Singapore, I will introduce some deal sites I know here! :) Good for those coming to Singapore for holiday or as a launchpad to her neighbouring countries (Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bali, Bintan, etc).

  • Deals Aggregator: (you can change location to Malaysia or Philippines)
  • Promotions:
  • Coupons:

*I have not personally brought from these deal sites.
